Baby tips: Romper or 2 pieces for baby

Some tips to share with new mother-to-be after 6 months taking care of my baby by ourselves without our mothers' supervision..

Some people may be thinking if baby romper or 2 pieces set is better for our baby. When baby wearing 2 pieces it tend to come out easily from their pant when we carry them and their tummy will be exposed. It will not be good for younger baby as they will catch cold easily. If they are in romper, the romper (match with a pant) will hold in place as there are buttons at the bottom and that save the trouble to tuck in for them again and again.

Conrad Bangkok (9 April 2015)

When we entered the hotel, they greeted us with their big smile and helped us immediately with our luggage. The check-in is very fast and the receptionist is very friendly and helpful with our enquiries.

Conrad hotel is more woody finishing and it gives us the cosy feel. They have spacious bedroom with walk-in wardrobe and big toilet and big comfortable bed which Adam fall asleep instantly on the bed at night. Beside that, they do provide fruits daily which not a lot of hotel do that.

Beside this hotel is an office building with 1 or 2 levels of retail space and supermarket. This hotel provide shuttle bus to the nearest Phloen Chit BTS as the BTS is about 15 min walk from the hotel.

Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok (29-31 March 2015)

We love this hotel very much as the location is very near to Phrom Phong BTS and a new shopping mall call EMQUARTIER. There are a lot of massage spa shop along the way and even more after the hotel which you may explore.

The staffs at Hilton are very friendly and greet us warmly. When we enter the room, it is bright and reasonable size with study table, big shower area (separate shower and bathtub). The bed is quite comfortable with plush pillow.

Grande Centre Point Hotel Ploenchit (28 February - 1 March 2015)

This time we came to Bangkok because Adam will be having his 3 vaccinates on the next day. We enjoy ourselves at Siam Paragon before Adam cry out loud the next day.

We bought ourselves a new Egrobaby carrier with nice prints chosen by Daddy.. He wants to look cool in the new carrier. I need to admit this carrier is quite comfortable when carrying Adam so is a good investment for us.

This time we stayed in Grande Centre Point Hotel Ploenchit which is nearer to the hospital. The check-in was fast and they upgraded our room too. The room is spacious with a living room with a small dining table and also a small pantry with microwave oven. Most important, the room is clean and bright. After that night, I love their bed, so comfortable. A good rest for 3 of us.

Adam is so comfortable on the bed.

After check out, we went to hospital for Adam's vaccination, he cried out loud and stopped right after the 3rd injection, our brave boy. He fall asleep in his car seat during the journey back home.

Baby first holiday at Hansar Pranburi (24 Dec 2014 - 2 January 2015)

Is time to start writing my blog after several months taking care of Adam without Mums' help. Beside writing my holiday in Pranburi and hotel stay in Bangkok, will also share some baby tips to the readers.

In December 2014, we went to Hansar Pranburi to spend our Christmas and New Year there and it was also Adam's first holiday. The journey to Hansar Pranburi is quite tough as the road from Pranburi city to the hotel is quite bumpy (road still constructing) or you can choose to drive on the beach when is low tide around afternoon.

When we arrived the resort, the staffs were very friendly, they greeted us warmly and made us feel like home. They do speak English so communication should not be a problem. Our Baby Adam is as one of main attraction as they always played with him when we were out of our room.

The resort location is very remote so you can enjoy the quiet and peaceful environment and beach. The beach is not those fine sandy kind, there are a lot of tiny seashell so can be quite painful to walk with our barefoot.

The service at the resort is very good (they provided us either a fruit platter or dessert platter together with our meal and helped us with our baby pram and bags when we returned from our day trip). Their food menu is mainly Thai cuisine with limited choices but is delicious.

Our bunglow sea view is quite big for a family of 3 (a king bed and a single bed) and it look actually the same as the photo on the website. Their housekeeping need to improve as they don't use vacuum cleaner so is still a bit dusty after the cleaning.

It is really a good getaway for us to spend quality time as Mike was so busy with work since Adam born. This is the bonding time for the father and son. And for me I don't have to do housework for 10 days, super relax for me..

Merry Christmas while Adam sleeping in his pram...

Happy 2015...

If you have extra time in Bangkok, you may like to spend 3 days here to relax before you go back home.. Is worth to come here to slack and do nothing.

Baby popping out

My baby is so active on the night of 31 August 2014, that I did not suspect that is our baby alarm till my water bag burst at night around 10 plus when we are about to go to bed. I could feel the "pop" sound and feel that water is flowing down. And I quickly stood up and told Mike. When I walked to the toilet, the water is gasping down with a bit of blood.

As water bag burst, we had no choice but to go to the nearby hospital in Kanchanaburi. As language is a big barrier for both of us, we were grateful that Mike's friend rushed down to the hospital with us. Before we settled down, I was treated like a pig (haha), like shaving off the hair on my tummy and free Brazilian shaving. After a while, we were left alone in the ward waiting for the contraction to be more severe. It was a long wait from 11.30pm till the next morning 10am. I could not sleep as my back is very painful and that is the starting of the contraction. Until 10am, the opening is only 4cm and Doctor ask me to bear for another 3-4 hours. But I am so tired and could not bear the pain anymore so we decided to do cesarean section.

At the operation room, they tied my leg and hand like I am a pig waiting to slaughter (haha). After a while, I lost my conscience. Moments later I woke up, I felt so cold that I have forgotten about my operation and baby.

Is a Baby Boy and we named him Adam Yap Yat Hei.

Happy Daddy carrying our baby Adam and Adam stop crying and open his eye to see Daddy.

And for me, I was so tired and painful after the operation that I could not carry my baby until the second day. On the first day, they have inserted a urine tube for my convenience. But on the 2nd day, the doctor advised that the wound is good and I could start walking down to the toilet. Let me tell you, the pain is unbearable when you need to sit up and walk to the toilet, The first step to do all these really need a lot of courage.

For all mummy to be who thinking to do cesarean section, please prepare a pregnancy band to tighten the tummy to ease the pain. Before I had my pregnancy band with me, I have to hold on to my flabby tummy so that it will not rub onto my wound.

our 1 day old Baby Adam...

Adam has big eye, small mouth and nose and long leg and hand. o so cute and handsome boy... Sorry that I praise my own son as he has so many cute expression and action that make us smile everyday.

In hospital, we will start to panic when he start to cry as we really don know what to do, is he hungry, need to change pamper or is he cold or hot and have no choice to keep calling the nurse for help. Lucky the nurses are very helpful and friendly that they help and teach us a lot.

I am very grateful that Mike is always with me throughout this journey from the 1st day of pregnancy till now. He encouraged and helped me during this painful process. And also helping me to finish up the confinement food together.

Adam's big eye
our first family selfie, love this shot

I was discharged on the 4th day and lucky my friend Tat Cheng accompany us home to help us take care of Adam until my mother in law reach our house at night. I learned to breastfeed Adam but my milk supply is quite low so no choice to feed him formula milk too as Baby Adam has big appetite.

After a lot of research, we learned from friends and internet that we need to pump frequently to increase our milk supply, drink more water and eat oats. So I pumped every 3 hours and eat oats with soya bean milk and slowly my milk supply increase from 10ml to 60ml. That is my achievement for now.

Lastly, like to thanks my mother in law for rushing over on 4 Sept to take care of her grandson. Over these few weeks, she takes care of baby Adam and big Baby Amanda. She cooks varieties of confinement food from the cooking books she bought, so actually confinement food is so tasty. And lucky she allows me to bath with non-smelly herbs. So I still smell good.
