Exploring Suphanburi (farm stay and visit 100 years old market) - 6 June 2013

As Mike will not be at home, Tat Cheng and I visited one of the Thai wife at Suphanburi on 6 June 2013, is about 1 hour car drive from Kanachaburi. Along the way, there is a lot of padi field. Beautiful scenery, which is everywhere along the road. But the road is rough, so I always jumping up and down in the car.
ate this stewed duck noodle at one of the road side stall, love the texture of the duck.
When we reached her house which is a wooden house with a farm behind. Oh my god, she has so many animals (ducks, goose, dogs, squirrels, goats, cats, chicken) and she has to feed them by herself. She also plants a lot of spices and vegetables by herself. Very proud of her. She has recovered from cancer several years ago and she has mentioned that she would like to convert her house to a guest house for people who is suffering from cancer and during the stay she would like to encourage them. She is very friendly, helpful, hardworking and easy going that made me respect her a lot a lot. She will teach us Thai language when she is free.

After feeding her pets, she brings us to the famous Sum Chuk 100 years old market. Is an interesting market selling local foods, snacks, pastries and oldies vintage items. Please do consider to explore Suphanburi if you are staying at Bangkok for several days and like to see the local's culture. As we went there is a weekday, some of the shop is not open so the best day to visit this market is during the weekend.

Exploring Bangkok alone on 8 and 9 June- Boxpackers near Platinum Mall

Yo, if you are traveling alone at Bangkok and like to be near the shopping place (the Platinum Mall), you may consider Boxpackers (cute little bed in a small room). The staff is very friendly and helpful with your question. Is about 5-8 min walk to Pratunam Market and 10 min walk to The Platinum Mall. There is alot of local food stall along the road and massage parlor which you can visit them.

Address of the hostel:

39/3 Soi Phetburi 15, Petchburi Road, ThanonPhayathai, Rajathevi Bangkok 10400 Thailand Map of the hostel
with good card access system, good security measure

4 beds female dorm and cost 500 Baht a night (Sgd $21) including breakfast

a good size toilet
Travelling alone can be boring and dangerous, so I have to be cautions at all times. When come to shopping in Bangkok, you will not feel lonely as you will be busy shopping and looking for interesting thing. I could not resist the shopping temptation when I am at Platinum mall alone. These are some of my shopping item which I am preparing for my Koh Samui Trip on Mid June.

I also went to Siam Square before my dinner. It is very hot to walk in the open. You can consider looking for evening gown at Siam Square as there is a lot of shops that custom make dress.

Siam Square opposite Siam Paragon

I knew a gal from Bangkok via Instagram so decide to meet up with her for dinner since I going to Bangkok. She also bring some of her friend to the dinner at Thong Lo and we have a good chit chat dinner session with them. All of them are Doctors (Teera and Air are Chinese Acupuncture doctor and Woody is a Aesthetic doctor) and they are only 26. They are very friendly people, they know how to speak English and Chinese so made our conversation easier. There is a lot of restaurant, night club, pub and Aesthetic Clinic at Thong Lo. Please explore Thong Lo Soi 9 and along Sukhumvit 55 Road, there is a lot of thing to explore (is a bigger version of our Singapore's Holland Village).

the next day, I enjoy my brunch at After you dessert cafe to try out their breakfast menu.
please try this, banana chocolate pancake

Exploring Bangkok- Famous chicken rice Kai Ton Pratunam near Platinum mall

Have the craving of chicken rice for long, finally I get to eat the famous Chicken rice near the Platinum Mall which a lot of blogger is talking about them, since I around that place so give it a try.

If you taking BTS to Chit Lom, you can walk down the path along Gayson Shopping Mall (Opposite Central World). Walk till you reach a curve of the road then turn right, you will see a small road that read Number 30. After that you will see a lot of people wearing pink t-shirt, that is the Chicken rice stall (map as below).
As Mike and I have high expectation on Chicken rice, I feel that the chicken is not tender enough but the soup (bitter gourd soup and the mushroom soup) is nice, which you may order. You may give it a try if you are near Platinum mall.

Please order this mango sticky rice at the stall outside for dessert, Mango is super super sweet and the rice is so fragrant.
